With AllTray you can dock any application with no native tray icon (like Evolution, Thunderbird, Terminals) into the system tray. A high-light feature is that a click on the "close" button will minimize back to system tray. It works well with Gnome, KDE, XFCE 4*, Fluxbox* and WindowMaker*
Sucede que tengo un programa que necesito dejarlo en el tray, pero este no tiene esa opcion. Ahi es cuando entra en accion alltray, ahora el programa esta en el tray y cuando lo necesito solo le doy un click al icono :)
COMO INSTALAR Y UTILIZAR ALLTRAY
1. Descargamos el programa:
wget http://easynews.dl.sourceforge.net/sourceforge/alltray/alltray-0.62.tar.gz
2. Descomprimimos y compilamos:
tar zvxf alltray-0.62.tar.gz
cd alltray-0.62
./configure
make && make install
3.- Lo utilizamos con el programa que necesitamos esconder en el tray:
where options include:
--help; -h: print this message
--version; -v: print version
--debug; -d: show debug messages
--show; -s: do not hide window after start
--icon; -i : use this icon
--large_icons; -l: allow large icons (> 24x24)
--sticky; -st: visible on all workspaces
--borderless; -x: remove border, title, frame (if not supported native)
--menu; -m: "menu text:command": add entry to popdown menu
--title; -t : show title change for seconds
--geometry; -g [x][++]: initial position (if not supported native)
--configure; -conf: show KDE configuration dialog
usage: alltray
Click-Mode: Click on the window you would like to dock.

4. Vamos a gnome-sessions y agregamos en los programas que deben ejecutarse al inicio de gnome:
alltray "programa"
