Validacion de usuarios contra el Sendmail

Saludos a todos,

Termine de instalar un fedora core 5 y ya instale el servidor DHCP y el DNS, es un proyecto para la U, pero el sendmail me esta dando problemas, el correo interno dentro del servidor funciona bien pero el momento que configuro en un pc el outlook pruebo las configuraciones y el correo llega pero no me valida el usuario es el unico error. es problema del sendmail o el dovecot???

supongo que tengo q autenticar el pop para q los usuarios del outlook recogan su correo..por lo que he leido se supone que es el mismo username y password del linux pero no me funciona en el outlook

Prueba con un telnet al puerto 110 de tu mail server, deberías tenet algo así:

Este es el estracto de un diálogo con el servidor POP3,las líneas que empiezan con "+" son las respuestas del servidor, si no puedes concluir un diálogo así con tu POP3 Server, entonces tienes un problema de configuración ...

Gracias por tu ayuda, una pregunta mas estuve ayer en la configuracion del dovecot lo estaba configurando desde el webmin y me salio un error y no pudo reiniciar el demonio : el error me dio en la line 621 userdb. necesito copiar de nuevo todo el dovecot.conf o como lo arreglo

Reinicia el dovecot, si no te funciona te sugeriría que obtengas un nuevo archivo de configuración del dovecot (realmente está largo y mirar algún cambio tomaría un tiempo)

como obtenrlo? De otra máquina, si no tienes otra máquina te sugeriría desinstalar dovecot y reinstalarlo así te vuielve a poner el conf original

yum erase dovecot
yum install dovecot

y solo hay que descomentar la linea que dice protocols = no hay que tocar nada más a no ser que de verdad lo necesites por alguna razón propia de tu empresa, pero no hace falta.

En mi apreciación parece que davecot está configurado no para autenticar contra /etc/passwd sino contra una base de datos de usuarios.

En lo personal uso qpopper, así que alguien que sepa dovecot que tome la posta :)
