arranque lento de centos 5.6

Hola a todos tengo instalado centos 5.6 en un tarjeta intel con procesador core i3, mi problema es el siguiente, cuando lo instale al comienzo arrancaba bien rapido, pero despues ciertos servicios se tardaban en arrancar entre ellos estaban: cups, nfs, samba y lo que hice fue quitarlos del arranque y todo bien hasta ahi, arranca rapido y carga el modo consola pero al pasarse al modo grafico dilata como 2 minutos y cuando introduzco la contraseña para q inicie dilata como 5, el server trabaja bien es un proxy pero si quiero abrir un terminal o cualquier otra aplicacion dilata mucho, veo el uso de los procesadores y no exceden del 3%, que estara causando esta lentitud, probe con ubuntu server y no me da ese problema, y no me cambio a ubuntu por que me parece mas robusto centos.

x lo q veo no es un server sino una pc i3, a mi me ha pasado cuando se ponen lentos es x problemas de los hd, x q no haces un chequeo del/los hd q estan en tu pc de pronto x alli esta el problema, fijo tienen sectores dañados.
